This is a really big deal. The New Pet Expo scheduled for this weekend is canceled.
The expo was an important event to me, but I am even more upset to let Operation Delta Dog (ODD) down. I donated a booth to ODD a nonprofit organization that rescue homeless dogs from Massachusetts shelters and breed-rescue groups and trains them to work as service dogs for local veterans who are suffering from TBI and PTSD.
In short, the reason for the cancellation is safety. A terminated employee of the expo company believes she is being directed by God to kill one of the company’s owners and sabotage the business because Amazing Pet Expos actively supports and employs members of the LGBQT community.
Here’s the correspondence from the event representative.
Dear Linda Saraco,
My name is Jill Beaverson and I am writing on behalf of my client, Amazing Pet Expos. We regret to announce that we have been forced to cancel the 2017 New England Pet Expo.
As I’m sure you’re wondering what happened, please allow me to explain:
Amazing Pet Expos has experienced some extremely unfortunate incidents due to the actions of a former employee, who served as their controller and CPA. By all accounts, the person developed some mental instability and, as such, believed she was being directed by God to kill one of company’s owners and sabotage the business because Amazing Pet Expos actively supports and employs members of the LGBQT community.
Although Amazing Pet Expos terminated the employee once her actions were discovered, she continues to illegally threaten, harass, and stalk various members of the company even with a full order of protection in place and criminal charges pending. This person continues to do everything she can to harm the company in a number of ways.
As a result of some specific actions this employee took to undermine the New England Pet Expo, we have no choice but to cancel this year’s event. We know it’s very late notice – we were desperately hoping to repair the damage which had been done to pull of the show but simply can’t chance it at this late date.
We aren’t taking this laying down – far from it. However, it’s very difficult to anticipate the actions of a person who has said the “Lord won’t stop until we’ve rid our den of sinful vipers and homosexuals.” Orders of protection, criminal charges, or Amazing Pet Expos’ attorney’s threats haven’t stopped her. We even received a message this morning which said the “Devil’s work will be halted and Boston is your end for supporting the sinners you pay to live in sin.” If you would like to verify any of this information, please feel free to call our attorney, Stephen Coffin, at (636) 244-5252 and he can confirm the facts.
We understand that a last-minute show cancellation is frustrating and difficult for everyone involved. We hope you’ll recall this show’s 8 year history in New England and focus on its history of success. Exhibitor support across the country is what has encouraged more than 2 million people to attend our events and facilitated more than 50,000 pet adoptions across the country. Amazing Pet Expos strong reputation is based on its high standards developed over the course of 178 pet expos and they intend to uphold these standards for years to come.
